  • What are Cookies?

Cookies are messages (files) written in your browser by your server. When you return to a Web page, your browser sends the "cookie" information to the server. This information identifies you, and your preferences, making it possible to alter a Web site to your needs.

Element K cookies are temporarily written to your computer's memory (RAM). Only if you choose to save your username and password on the login screen will cookies be written to your hard drive.

Why does Element K require cookies?

Element K uses cookies to ensure the privacy of your account when you enter secure parts of our site. Cookies allow you to login, participate in classes, and access chat areas. When you quit your browser, the cookie will be erased from memory unless you select the checkbox on the login screen to save the cookie information on your hard drive.

How do I accept cookies? How do I turn off cookie notification?

To accept cookies, you must change your browser settings. We also recommend that you turn off the cookie notification in your browser. (When cookie notification is turned on, the browser notifies you every time a cookie is being retrieved.) Click here to accept cookies and turn off cookie notification.

What about my privacy? (Cookies and Privacy)

Element K does not use cookies to gather information on your Web surfing habits, your interests, or to track down any other information without your knowledge or consent. We respect your privacy and do not give out any information without permission.

When you quit your browser, Element K cookies will be erased from memory unless you select the checkbox on the login screen to save your username and password. If you decide to save your username and password, the cookie information is stored on your hard drive.

How do I turn off auto-login?

If you've saved your username and password for auto-login, but decide you no longer want to save it, you must turn off the auto-login feature.

Note: If you're using the auto-login feature and you change your username and/or password, your username and password are automatically updated for the auto-login feature. Auto-login will now use your new username and password to grant you access to Element K.

To turn off the auto-login feature:
    1. Click Student Services.
    2. Click Change Student Options.
    3. Click the Log Me in Automatically checkbox in Auto-login once to remove the check mark.
    4. Click the Change Option Settings button to change your options.
    5. Logout of Element K . The next time you go to the Element K login page, you'll have to enter your username and password to enter Element K.
